THE EAST FIELD (#1)

Field #1, across from Cid’s, is where we will grow our priority crops for 2025:  bolita beans, acorn squash, peas, carrots, beets, sweet corn. We will also plant flowers for beneficial insects and a small amount of lettuces.

October 17, 2024.    The community garden space has been cleared and we let the goats eat up what they can.

October 18, 2024.    The goats were not that interested after a day of grazing, so in order to take advantage of the rain coming this weekend, Mat is tilling it up now and we’ll get the cover crop in today.

THE WEST FIELD (#2)—PUMPKINS

Field #2 is planned to be next year’s you-pick pumpkin patch. We harvested the last of the crops in early October, and let the goats eat up the rest. We’ve got a cover crop there now, and the north patch of Field #2 will be planted with garlic this week, October 21.

October 7, 2024.    We harvested the last of the crops and let the goats eat up the rest.

OUR CROPS FOR 2025

THE ANIMALS

We moved the goats from the old pen next to the road to another pen nestled in the trees. Mat created two additional paddocks and they are so much happier to get to move around! In addition, they helped eat down the plants in both crop fields just in time to till and plant cover crops.
